Merge tags

By the end of this page you will know every merge tag TrazoForms offers, where each one actually works, and what happens when one has no value.

Merge tags are words between braces that are replaced with real data when a form is submitted.

Field Works?
Notification Subject and Message Yes
Confirmation Message and Web address (redirect) Yes
Notification Send to (fixed address), From, Reply to No — these are plain contact fields, not text with placeholders

Under Available tags, click a field in the settings above, and then a tag — it is inserted at the cursor, in the rich editor or in a plain text field, whichever you were last using. You can also type a tag by hand.

Tag Is replaced with
{field:name} The value of a field. name is the field’s Internal name.
{all_fields} Every submitted field, with its label. A field hidden by conditional logic is left out of the list entirely — it never shows up as a blank line.
{form_title} The form title.
{entry_id} The entry number.
{date} The submission date and time, in the site’s format.
{site_name} The site name.
{site_url} The site address.
{entry_admin_url} A link to the form’s entries in the dashboard.
{user:display_name} The name of the logged-in user.
{user:user_email} The email of the logged-in user.

Tag names themselves are always in English, even on a Spanish site — they are tokens stored inside your text, not a translated word, so they never change under you.

Write {field:name|fallback text} to show fallback text only when that field’s value is empty. The tag picker does not insert this form for you — type the | and the fallback text by hand after clicking the tag.

  • A tag that does not exist is left as it is. Text between braces that is not a real tag, like a code example, does not disappear.
  • A known tag with an empty value becomes an empty string, unless you added a fallback as above.
  • What visitors type is never interpreted as a tag, even once. If someone writes {user:user_email} in a field, it shows up as that literal text — it is not resolved a second time.
  • If you change a field’s internal name, update the tags that use it.
